How to charge the Ford Puma

The charging door is at the rear left of the car, above the rear wheel. So park with the rear left side facing the charging station.

  • Bring the car to a stop and press the P button on the end of the gear stalk. The parking brake must be on, otherwise charging will not start.

  • Turn the car off.

  • Make sure the car is unlocked.

  • Open the charging door: pull the middle of its right-hand edge and let go.

  • Take the charging cable from the boot. Insert the cable into the car first, then into the charging station. Push the connector in firmly until it is properly seated.

  • Take the charging token from the glove compartment and scan it at the charging station to start charging.

  • Return the charging token to the glove compartment.

Tip: always check that the car is actually charging. The light next to the charging port flashes blue while the car is charging. The dashboard also shows that the car is charging and how long it will take.

Good to know

  • At a standard charging station the car charges at up to 11 kW. An empty battery is then fully charged in about 5 hours.

  • At a single-phase charge point the car charges more slowly.

  • At a fast charger (recommended during your trip) the car charges at up to 100 kW. Charging from 10 to 80 percent then takes about 26 minutes. At a lower-powered charger it takes longer.

  • The battery is about 47 kWh, with a stated range of just over 400 km (WLTP). In practice you will get less, especially in winter and on the motorway.

  • Charging speeds are estimates. They depend on factors such as temperature and how busy the charging location is.

  • You cannot release the parking brake while charging. Stop charging first and remove the cable from the car.

Troubleshooting

  • Charging door will not open: unlock the car via the MyWheels app and try again.

  • Car is not charging: is the parking brake on? Press the P button on the gear stalk. Also check that the connector is properly inserted and that the charging token was scanned correctly. If it still does not work, try a different charging station.

  • The light next to the charging port flashes orange: there is a problem with the charging station or the power supply. Try a different charging station.

  • The light next to the charging port stays orange: there is a problem with the car. Contact MyWheels customer support.

  • Charging door stuck because of ice: tap lightly to break the ice. Do not force the door and do not use tools.
