How does the cruise control work in the Renault 5?

Updated over 2 months ago

Activating Cruise Control

Press the mode button to activate cruise control. The cruise control symbol will appear, and the screen will display "Cruise control ON", with dashes indicating that cruise control is ready for use.

Setting the Speed

Drive above 30 km/h and press the set button to set the current speed as the cruising speed. The stored speed will be displayed in green on the dashboard.

Adjusting the Speed

  • Press the set/- button to decrease the speed.

  • Press the set/+ button to increase the speed or restore a previously saved speed.

  • Holding the buttons allows for faster adjustments.

Exceeding the Set Speed

Pressing the accelerator allows you to temporarily exceed the set cruise control speed. The speed on the dashboard will blink until you release the accelerator, at which point the car will automatically return to the preset speed.

Putting Cruise Control on Standby

Press the 0 button or apply the brake to put cruise control in standby mode. The set speed remains stored, but cruise control is deactivated. The warning light will turn gray.

Turning Off Cruise Control

Press the mode button to turn off cruise control. The stored speed will be erased, and the cruise control symbol will disappear.

Important Notes:

Cruise control should not be used in heavy traffic, on winding or slippery roads, or in poor weather conditions. Always stay alert and maintain full control of the vehicle. Cruise control does not replace your responsibility to adhere to speed limits.
