How do you start the Hyundai Kona?

WITH PHYSICAL KEY

Unlock the car & grab the key:

• Unlock the car in the app under your current reservation.

• Take the car key from the glove compartment.

Unplug the charging cable (if connected):

• Hold the charging key against the charging station reader.

• Press the unlock button on the car key (even if the car is already open).

• The cable will unlock — remove it from the car.

• Still stuck? Press the cable release button left of the steering wheel.

Store the charging cable:

• Always take the cable with you and store it in the trunk.

Start the car & drive off:

• Sit in the driver’s seat.

• Press the brake pedal.

• Press the round start button (to the right of the steering wheel).

• Not working? Hold the key against the start button or unlock the car again via the app.

• Shift the gear selector to D or R.

• Release the brake to start driving.


WITHOUT KEY

Unlock the car:

• Unlock the car in the app under your current reservation.

Unplug the charging cable (if connected):

• Take the charging tag from the glove compartment.

• Hold it against the charging station reader.

• Press “unlock” again in the app to release the cable.

• Still stuck? Press the cable release button left of the steering wheel.

Store the charging cable:

• Always take the cable with you and store it in the trunk.

Start the car & drive off:

• Sit in the driver’s seat.

• Press the brake pedal.

• Press the round start button (to the right of the steering wheel).

• Shift the gear selector to D or R.

• Release the brake to start driving.


Trouble starting?

• Firmly press the brake pedal and then press the start button.

• No engine sound? That’s normal — it’s an electric car. Check if the display shows “Ready”.

• Is the charging cable unplugged and the charging flap closed?

• Is the gear selector in P? If not, shift to P, press the brake, and try again.

• Check in the app if you still have an active reservation.

• Reservation expired and the car is locked? Call the MyWheels helpdesk.
