What can and cannot be transported in a Kia PV5 Cargo

The PV5 Cargo is a van. You can carry a lot in it, but not everything. Follow the rules below to avoid damage, cleaning charges and insurance problems.

What you can carry

  • Moving boxes, furniture and mattresses.

  • Building materials such as timber, plasterboard, pipes and tools.

  • Garden waste, soil and sand, as long as it is bagged, in bulk bags or on a tarpaulin.

  • White goods and other large appliances.

  • Bicycles, laid down or upright and secured, with padding between the frame and the wall.

What you must not carry

  • People in the cargo area. There are no seats and no seat belts. This is illegal and extremely dangerous.

  • Gas cylinders, jerry cans with petrol or diesel, large quantities of aerosols and other hazardous goods.

  • Fireworks, ammunition and explosives.

  • Loose or damaged lithium batteries.

  • Open containers of liquid, paint or chemicals.

  • Strong-smelling loads such as fish, manure or solvents. The smell soaks into the interior and makes the car unusable for the next driver.

  • Anything on the roof. The PV5 Cargo in our fleet has no roof bars and the roof is not load bearing.

  • Loads that do not fit fully inside the car. The rear doors and sliding door must be able to close. Protruding loads are not allowed.

  • Animals.

Weight and securing your load

  • The maximum weight of the car including its load is 2,650 kg. The payload for this car is stated on the vehicle registration document inside the car.

  • Do not exceed the payload. You will not be insured, the car brakes worse and you risk a fine.

  • Always secure your load using the tie-down rings in the load floor.

  • Place heavy items as low as possible and against the bulkhead.

  • Do not carry loose items in the cab. Under hard braking they become projectiles.

Protect the cargo area

  • Lay down a tarpaulin or blanket for wet, dirty or sharp loads.

  • Secure sharp objects such as metal, glass and tools so they cannot slide.

  • Sweep out the cargo area before returning the car and take your rubbish with you.

  • Damage to the load floor, the walls or the bulkhead and additional cleaning costs will be charged.

Not sure?

If you are not sure whether you can carry something, contact MyWheels customer support before you book. That is always cheaper than sorting it out afterwards.
