How do the windshield wipers of the Renault 5 work?

Updated over 3 months ago

The windshield wipers of the Renault 5 are controlled via the stalk on the right side of the steering wheel.

Windshield wiper operation

A. Single wipe

Briefly press switch 1 to activate a single wipe of the windshield wipers.

B. Off

The windshield wipers are turned off.

C. Intermittent wiping

The wipers operate at intervals of a few seconds. The duration of the interval can be adjusted by turning ring 2.

D. Slow continuous wiping

The wipers operate continuously at a low speed.

E. Fast continuous wiping

The wipers operate continuously at a high speed.

Special feature

While driving, the wipers automatically adjust their speed when the car stops:

  • The wipers switch from fast continuous wiping to slow continuous wiping.

  • Once the car starts moving again, the wipers return to their original speed.

  • Any manual action on switch 1 overrides and cancels this automatic function.
