FAQ - Partnership between MyWheels and We Drive Solar

  1. Why are MyWheels and We Drive Solar teaming up?

We Drive Solar and MyWheels are joining forces to take the next step in the energy transition! The combination of expertise within both companies is the reason for the collaboration. We Drive Solar will fully focus on the bi-directional charging infrastructure to which MyWheels' car-sharing service is an excellent fit.

Starting in November 2023, the We Drive Solar cars will be in the MyWheels livery and findable in the MyWheels app. The first 'driving neighborhood battery' will consist of 300 MyWheels electric shared cars in Utrecht. These cars will be connected to We Drive Solar charging stations, marking the first step in the energy transition. There are also 3,000 additional shared cars ready throughout the Netherlands for every We Drive Solar user who will make the switch.

  1. What happens to my We Drive Solar subscription?

As of November 1, your subscription with We Drive Solar will end. From mid-November 2023, the cars can be reserved via the MyWheels app. So create a MyWheels account now. At the end of October, you will receive an email from MyWheels with which you can activate the offer.

MyWheels and We Drive Solar have set up an exclusive introductory offer especially for you. This way, you can smoothly transition and soon have access to over 3000 cars (including those from We Drive Solar) through one app.

Check which group you fall into. It differs for subscription holders or new construction project residents. If you fall into both groups, both offers apply.

 

Introduction offer for residents of the new construction project:

As a resident, you receive a €20 discount* per month. This way, you can try out the shared cars in your area without obligation. Doesn't that sound like music to your ears?

The discount is immediately available in your MyWheels app under 'earn discounts'.

*Valid for the duration of the introductory offer. The discount you receive is valid for 3 months.

  1. How do I switch to MyWheels?

Switching to MyWheels is easy. Check which group you fall into and follow the steps.

Switching as a subscription holder:

  1. How do I reserve a car at MyWheels?

From November 2023, all We Drive Solar cars are available via the MyWheels app and reserving is very simple!

  1. Determine when you need the car
  2. Choose your car from the map
  3. Reserve the car
  4. You're on your way!

  1. What will change about the appearance of the cars?

With the collaboration of MyWheels and We Drive Solar, the appearance of the cars will also change. The cars will get the recognizable green and blue color of MyWheels on the outside! But don't worry, inside the cars will still drive as nicely as you are used to.

  1. How will contact be from now on for questions?

  1. What happens to the We Drive Solar car offering?

Many of the cars you already use and the locations where they are will remain the same. These cars will be supplemented by the MyWheels network of 3,000 cars throughout the Netherlands. Over time, cars may be moved to optimize coverage. We will of course inform you about this.

This collaboration enables We Drive Solar to offer customers a gigantic range of cars. By joining forces, the platform now offers 3,000+ cars. In this way, we offer you the same mobility, on a much larger scale.

When searching in the app and on the website, you can filter by electric, fuel, or both. So, if you want to drive only electric cars, then activate the electric filter.

  1. Can I link an account/share a subscription with someone?

Yes, you can. See this article for explanation: Linking accounts

  1. What happens to my already planned rides with We Drive Solar?

Already planned We Drive Solar rides will be automatically canceled and not transferred to MyWheels. We ask you to switch to MyWheels and make your reservation again there. If you have any problems, please contact MyWheels support.

  1. At We Drive Solar, rates depend on the time you reserve the car, how does that work with MyWheels?

MyWheels has fixed rates for each time. Current rates can be found here.


Disclaimer: the We Drive Solar offer is paid out in credit. Therefore, you will not see this discount in the ride, but as credit on your account. For clarification, we have included the credit and reconciled it in the examples below.

  1. Could MyWheels offer an upgrade to a vacation subscription like We Drive Solar did?

MyWheels automatically grants a 25% discount on rides exceeding 48 hours; no action is needed. If you have a MyWheels Pro subscription, you automatically receive a 25% discount on your rides, also applicable to rides over 48 hours.

  1. Does MyWheels also have cars with fixed locations?

MyWheels provides some cars with designated parking and charging spots. Thanks to the collaboration with We Drive Solar, more MyWheels cars in Utrecht will have fixed charging spots.

However, MyWheels also offers zone cars, meaning they don’t have fixed parking or charging spots but can be found in a nearby zone at public parking and charging locations. The fixed parking spot or zone can always be located in the app when you make a reservation.

All cars transitioning from We Drive Solar will maintain their fixed locations as currently established.

  1. How many reservations can I make per day with MyWheels?

You can make multiple reservations per day with MyWheels: up to 2 rides every 6 hours. For consecutive rentals, it's advised to make a longer reservation.

If you've left something in the car or encounter issues with charging, you can reopen the car within 45 minutes of ending your reservation. Instructions for this can be found here.

  1. How are cars insured with MyWheels?

All cars are insured against damage, and MyWheels also provides passenger insurance. You're only insured during your reservation. If you return late without extending your reservation, you're not insured for that additional time.

For €4.99, we lower your deductible to €250. This adjustment is automatic with each reservation. If you prefer to decide when to lower your deductible, you can do so by paying a €250 deposit. Then, when booking a ride, you can activate or deactivate the 'deductible' option yourself.

  1. What is the deductible for MyWheels?

The deductible for damage with MyWheels is €500 per incident. You can lower it to €250 for €4.99 per reserved day (per ride). If you haven't paid a deposit, lowering the deductible is mandatory.

Can I lower the deductible? Yes, this option is automatically enabled. You pay €4.99 per reserved day, automatically lowering the deductible to €250. If you wish to choose per ride whether to lower the deductible, you can do so by paying a €250 deposit. Afterwards, you can manage the 'deductible' option yourself when booking a ride.

You can arrange to pay the deposit here by enabling 'pay later' under "Account & Settings". If you're already paying later but haven't paid a deposit, you can manage that here too.

  1. How can I cancel a MyWheels reservation, and are there cancellation fees?

There are no charges for canceling your reservation in the following scenarios:

  • You canceled the reservation immediately within 10 minutes of making it.
  • You canceled more than 24 hours before the start of the reservation.
  • You have a Plus or Pro subscription, which allows free cancellation.

If none of the above scenarios apply, you'll be charged €10 per reserved day as cancellation fees.

Cancellations are only possible until the start time of the ride. Once the ride has started, you can only end it, not cancel it.

The right of withdrawal does not apply to reserved rides, but the above conditions do.
