Are winter tires mandatory during winter?

Updated over 5 months ago

Although winter tires are not mandatory in the Netherlands, a large part of our fleet is equipped with them during the colder months. Additionally, they are required by law in many European countries during this period.

This includes countries like:

- Germany
- Austria
- Switzerland
- Italy
- Luxembourg
- Norway, Sweden, and Finland
- (Parts of) France

Driving without winter tires in these countries can often result in a hefty fine or liability in case of a traffic accident. So, make sure to be well-prepared.

Planning a ski trip with MyWheels? Be sure to select a car with winter tires by using the ‘winter tires’ filter.
